Spatial information became the engine and backbone of countless applications, services, and research endeavors. Whenever spatial data is involved, artifacts are around: maps, visualizations, location-based services, buildings, networks, brain surgery assistance, robots. We use spatial information to find our ways outdoors and indoors, to identify locations, to reason about spatial relations, to analyze the environment, to plan buildings and landuse, to create the infrastructures and services of smart cities of the future, or unleash autonomous vehicles. The ubiquity and availability of spatial information enables exciting possibilities and creates important challenges across all domains. How can we efficiently make use of spatial data? How can we identify information that really matters during wayfinding in indoor and outdoor environments? How can we understand spatial relationships? How can we configure complex spatial queries? How can we ensure that buildings are correctly specified? How can we allocate remote assets? Well-designed interaction with spatial data can be the key to meaningful answers. Users, decision makers, or operators can successfully master their tasks when they can access relevant spatial information. If this interaction or representation is intuitive and efficient, spatial interfaces become enjoyable and reliable tools. We invite the submission of research papers, position statements as well as interactive demos to discuss and experience new spatial interaction techniques and modalities, algorithms involved in interaction and visualization, user studies, adaptation, research agendas, common challenges etc. Submit your paper or demo to MapInteract 2015 if your work is related to interaction and concerned with one or more of the following topics (not limited to these): Map Interaction Spatial User Interfaces and Interaction Techniques Human-Computer Interaction with Spatial Information and Representations Interactive Spatial Visual Analytics Spatial Visualization Techniques Multi-modal Spatial Interfaces Tangible Interfaces for Spatial Information Interaction Design for Small, Large, Shared or Ambient Displays Algorithms for Interactive and Dynamic Maps Multi-user Interaction, Cooperation, Collaboration We are explicitly looking for submissions from diverse domains and disciplines (not limited to these): Cartography Location-Based Services Geography Architecture Smart Cities Health Disaster Management Volunteered Geographic Information/Crowdsourcing
