  Disciplines which constitute the scholarly domain of CIÉPO are "the humanistic sciences in general and, more specifically, history and ancillary disciplines such as philosophy, history of religion, literature, ethnology, etc." (art. 4). Specialists whose works constitute a contribution in the scholarly domain defined by article 4, who have participated actively by presenting a communication at least during two CIÉPO symposia and paid their dues constitute the individual membership of CIÉPO and enjoy all attendant rights (art. 6). Membership is open to scholars of all nationalities and is determined solely by scientific criteria. Each candidacy must be supported by two bona fide members of CIÉPO.
