  In the early 1970's Prof. Yori Osaki proposed a model for outbursts of dwarf novae (DNe). This model is widely known now as a disk-instability model. It was further developed by Drs F.Meyer and E.Meyer-Hofmeister and others. One of the most priciple assumptions for this standard model was that a disk is in steady state. The contribution of the disk-instability model to the time-dependent study of accretion disk is very important, since this is the first model which can be directly compared with the observations in detail. To celebrate 25th anniversary of the disk-instability model, to overview its contribution to the current understanding of accretion disks, to provide insight into important unsolved problems a workshop on the disk instability model was organized in Kyoto.
