We present the results of 3D-spectroscopic observations and HST imaging for sample of galaxies identified as hosting fading AGN. These show significant shortfalls of ionizing radiation between the distant gas clouds and AGN themselves, indicating fading of a central engine on ~50-100 thousand year timescales. We study the [OIII] emission line kinematics from projected distances 10-40 kpc from the nucleus. In contrast to clouds near radio-loud AGN, the structures in this sample are dominated by circular rotation. However, the rotation plane is not always aligned with the host galaxies' stellar disks, including some cases of warped and differentially precessing gaseous and dust disks. The observed picture is consistent with a tidal origin for the extended gas in most systems, although the ionized gas and stellar tidal features do not always match exactly.
