We study charge generation in single material organic solar cells (OSC) based on star-shaped oligothiophenes (SSO) with similar structure: N(Ph-2T-DCN-Et)3 and N(Ph-2T-DCN-Ph)3. Charge generation and photovoltaic properties were investigated in solution-processed OSC in the structure: glass/ITO/PEDOT:PSS/N(Ph-2T-DCV-R)3/Ca/Al. These single material OSC demonstrate the external quantum efficiency up to 18%, as well as quite good power conversion efficiency up to 0.95%. Charge generation mechanism and recombination losses are discussed.
