The paper considers the first five years of New Moscow development compared with the Old Moscow and Moscow agglomeration as a whole. The focus of the analysis is on changes in the labor markets with special emphasis on work commuting. Proposed methods for local labor markets analyzing are based on mobile operators’ data on commuting, supported by official statistics data for Moscow municipalities. In general, main labor markets features of urban municipalities tend to follow general center-periphery differentiation. Equally important are the role of inherited jobs distribution and construction activities, both well traced in the analysis of the municipalities of New Moscow. Municipalities’ classified according to methodology proposed confirm the center-periphery differentiation. Spatial distribution of the unveiled areas types clearly show decrease in "working" districts presence from the center to the outskirts of the city, while the number of "sleeping" areas grows.
