Physical development in children is one of the most sensitive indicators to environmental factors affecting the population. Somatic development is understood as evolution of the length of limb bones given the nature of paleo-anthropological material. According to E.Z. Godina and N.N. Miklashevskaya (1989), growth factors of children and adolescents, as one of Page 18 of 22 the essential indicators of child health, reflect the overall level of socio-economic and hygienic living conditions of different groups of the population, as the growing child's body is particularly sensitive to any changes in these conditions. Sensitivity of the body in different periods of ontogenesis is unstable. The growth process is most vulnerable when it is characterized by the greatest intensity. These are embryonic, breastfeeding and adolescent periods. One can add to this the period of the half-growth jump. The aim of our study was to identify the age dynamics of the limb skeleton on the example of children of the early medieval series Mamisondon, North Caucasus. The evaluation of demographic indicators, morphometric parameters and indicators of physiological stress of the adult population of Mamisondon was carried out to understand the comfort of the environment for children. 83 skeletons of adult individuals were investigated. This analysis showed the absence of negative living conditions, i.e. rather comfortable living conditions of the population. Dynamics of variability of indicators of growth of children long limb bones in Mamisondon site is considered in the context of the received results.
