The longitudinal dimensions of the tubular bones of limbs of children and adolescents dated to the 15-16 centuries AD were studied. The investigation was conducted on rural and urban group from the central part of Russia (about 100 individuals). A comparative analysis revealed that the children of the ancient Russian population have the same periods of acceleration of growth processes as in the modern population. Comparing the rural and urban groups, an earlier entry into the half-height jump in the children of the urban population was noted. In addition, more active growth of limb bones was observed in urban children in the period from 5 to 12 years, compared to rural children.
