The lecture is dedicated to the theoretical and applied aspects of literary mapping. It begins with an overview of the history of literary mapping in Russia and USA and is continued by a detailed analysis of the method. A classification of literary maps is given in the lecture. It includes the maps of memorial places, associative places, complex maps and maps of literary images. Special attention is given to the stages of literary map creation. The lecture provides an insight on the key elements of literary map design and its content. It sets out views on the ways of mapping literary landmarks, landscapes, trips and literary images. The given method can be applied in the analysis of literary works; the study of cultural space, including the examination of literary places and landscapes; the preservation of tangible and intangible heritage; the development of cultural space of the region; the creation of literary excursions and routes by tourism agencies.
