Recently, it was proposed to use smooth pursuit eye movements to intentionally control technical devices using displays with moving objects (Vidal et al. 2013). However, as pursuit may also start automatically when moving objects are present, unintended commands can be often sent to devices. For static object selection with gaze, the EEG "E-wave" (expectancy wave) was proposed to differentiate gaze dwells intentionally used for selection from the spontaneous gaze dwells. It appears when the user is waiting for the interface to be triggered. A brain-computer interface (BCI) can be built using it, to prevent frequent false triggering in the gaze-based interaction with devices.
