During the last decades, natural hazard impacts on social and economic development in many countries were increasing due to the expansion of human activities into the areas at natural risks as well as to increasing in number and severity of natural hazardous events, on the one hand, and in the complexity of modern technological systems, on the other hand. Natural hazards of various genesis such as earthquakes, tsunami, floods, hurricanes and others impact on infrastructure and technological systems at different territorial levels from local and regional to global one. These adverse impacts cause a large social, environmental and economic damage leading to natural and natural-technological risks increasing. Natural hazard impacts become a fundamental problem and one of important factors influencing on social and economic regional development. The paper evaluates natural-technological risks at the level of federal regions of Russia using a database that was created by the author. Currently, the database includes about 20 thousand units of information of technological and natural-technological accidents. More than 90% of all natural-technological accidents in Russia occur under the influence of hazardous hydrological and meteorological processes and phenomena or related natural hazards of another genesis. Twelve types of natural-technological accidents were revealed. The total risk of natural-technological accidents of all the above types is calculated based on their average annual frequency of occurrences over 1991-2018.
