Competition authorities in BRICS countries extensively use remedies towards large market participants. In the paper we classify conduct remedies and summarize the experience of their application. In BRICS, in comparison to developed jurisdictions, conduct (behavioral) remedies in contrast to structural mostly address distributional issues but not competition promotion. Price remedies are not exceptional. Remedies are applied not only under merger clearance but also as a part of settlement or infringement decisions, on foreign as well as domestic companies. Observed effects of remedies are often positive, but many eventual effects of remedies are unobservable, at least in the short-run. Among other, no attention is paid to possible impact of conduct remedies applied by competition authority in one country on pricing of companies and competition in international markets. Using the example of large Russian companies in export-oriented industries we show that remedies change pricing strategies. Specifically, export price becomes more elastic on the determinants of demand in domestic market.
