FRBs are the most puzzling transient events in modern astrophysics. Despite >10 years of studies and dozens of proposed models, their origin remains obscured. Most popular models of FRBs involve neutron stars. Two different approaches exist: either rotational or magnetic energy of a compact object is released. We compare these possibilities, briefly review scenarios with rapidly spinning or/and highly magnetized neutron stars, and conclude with future prospects to falsify (or at east restrict) different models with eROSITA X-ray all-sky survey.
