Nanoplasmonics attracts much attention due to exciting possibilities of plasmon coupling with electromagnetic waves and modifying the main parameters of the light radiation. Usually surface plasmon resonances are observed in noble metal structures with confined geometry. Magnetoplasmonic crystals combine the properties of a spatially periodic structure (a photonic crystal), as well as plasmonic and magneto-optical media to control the optical and nonlinear-optical response of the structure by applying the static magnetic field. The second harmonic generation (SHG) technique is well known as a very sensitive probe of nanostructures. The quadratic response is forbidden in electric dipole approximation in the centrosymmetric regions, i.e. in bulk of the metals, thus all the SHG signal originates from the interfaces, where the inversion symmetry is broken. From the other hand, plasmon resonance excitation implies the resonant enhancement of the local field factor on the fundamental frequency L(w), while the SHG intensity is proportional to L^4(w). Moreover, the magnetization-induced effects in SHG response are usually orders of magnitude larger than the linear magnetooptical effects. Thus the talk is devoted to the first complex optical, nonlinear-optical and magneto-optical studies of planar magnetic nanostructured media with 2D periodicity.
