Among the group of studied silicides, germanides, gallides, and stannides with component ratio 2:3:5 there are known six main structural types: Sc2Fe3Si5 (P4/mnc), Lu2Co3Si5 (C2/c), Y2Rh3Sn5 (Cmc21), Yb2Pt3Sn5 (Pnma), U2Co3Si5 (Ibam) and Yb2Ir3Ce5 (Pmmn). According to a review by Sebastian et al. [1] structures of all these types are frame with variations of the introduction of rare earth elements. There is information in the literature that compounds with these structural types exhibit anomalous magnetic properties. We present one more compound of same composition - Sm2Ru3Sn5 - with the new structure type.
