The aim of this work is the synthesis and photophysical study of conjugates which consist of two covalently bonded functional fragments: photosensitizer (bacteriochlorin) and fluorophore (naphtalimide-based dye). Excitation by the light with wavelength corresponding to the Q-band of bacteriochlorin would lead to formation of singlet oxygen responsible for cancer cell damage. Further excitation of fluorophore unit by the other light wavelength is expected to produce the strong emission signal, which could be used to monitor tumor responses to treatment.
