The influence of individual oxides on basalt fibers properties was studied. The sequence of phase transitions when basalt fibers are crystalized due to thermal treatment was identified as well as the influence of preliminary reduction of iron ions by hydrogen. Data on crystallization and thermal sustainability of basalt fibers with reduced content of iron cations were provided. It was proved that deferred fibers had significantly smaller density, higher modulus of elasticity and better preserved mechanical properties at heating than natural basalt fibers. Data on the influence of Al2O3, P2O5, MgO, ZnO and ZrO2 oxides on basalt fibers properties were provided. It was proved that MgO and ZnO increased tensile strength and Young’s modulus of basalt fibers and it was also proved that iron oxides plaid a key role in crystallization processes of magnetite or of spinel-like phases.
