The paper concerns question of the best investment opportunity in the UK Southern North Sea region. This is a quite difficult area with upper-Permian evaporites (Zechstein formation) and low-Permian sandstones of Rotliegendes formation with much variance of porosity and permeability. The great challenge was in identifying the correct velocity model using only one TDR curve in only one well and acoustic logging data. Structures were studied after iterative time-depth conversion, several leads were identified and only one with the greatest economic effect was chosen as the best investment opportunity.
