The model is presented to analyze the capillary adhesion effect in discrete contact of elastic bodies with regular surface relief. The capillary adhesion occurs as a result of the action of capillary forces in menisci of liquid outside the contact regions. The solution of the discrete contact problem is developed and used to analyze the influence of the shapes of asperities, asperity density, the film thickness, and the fluid surface tension on the contact characteristics and the nominal pressure – approach dependence.
