The first part of the article presents the application of the asymptotic averag-ing method for determining the effective moduli and stress concentration as well as for studying the elastoplastic behavior of the B4C/2024Al composite using both 3D images of the real structure obtained by X-ray tomography and 3D models with ellipsoidal inclusions. The second part concerns an ap-plication of asymptotic homogenization to metamaterials, which may have some distinctive properties: tension–bending coupling or tension–torsion coupling. We studied tension–compression–torsion coupling provided by the metamaterial using second order asymptotic representation.
