The given talk is devoted to the use of conceptual metaphors and their linguistic manifestations in “Mary Poppins” by P.L. Travers for portraying the characters and for distinguishing between the children’s and the adults’ perception of reality. It also demonstrates how demetaphorization works in literary fairy tales, with orientational and structural metaphors being employed literally to create the book’s imaginary world.
