One of the primary tasks of any state is to maintain its defence potential and national security. The Russian government has spent a great deal of material resource and manpower in the last decade to strengthen the armed forces. Following this work, the defence industry complex has become one of the hubs of advanced technologies, knowledge and highly skilled personnel. As proved by the international experience, these resources can be used efficiently in the process of diversification of defence production for the purpose of enhancement of technological effectiveness and competitiveness of the civilian industry. The analysis and systematisation of this experience will make it possible to competently plan and build an efficient system of management and control of the diversification process, which in turn intensifies innovation in civil industry.
