Taking the challenge of searching for the new environmentally benign synthesis routs to piezoceramic powders, the work performed the synthesis of single-phase complex oxides in the medium of water vapor. Barium titanate containing 0.5-2.0 at. % Zr as well as potassium-sodium niobate with the addition of 2-10 at. % of Li were successfully prepared at 240-260°C and autogenous pressure. The powders consisted of submicron-sized particles with uniform shape (rounded or cubic for barium titanate, prismatic for potassium-sodium niobate). The obtained powders could be used as raw materials in piezoelectric ceramics manufacturing via pressing and annealing, spark plasma sintering, additive manufacturing etc.
