We investigated the basic 2π-fusion reaction in the ABC region within a framework of a new model involving the formation of the (experimentally observed) dibaryon D03 and its subsequent decay via two interfering channels: D03 → d+σ → d+π0π0 and D03 → D12+π0 → d+π0π0. We shall demonstrate in the talk that the constructive interference of the above two decay channels of the D03 resonance gives a strong near-threshold enhancement in the ππ invariant-mass spectrum, i.e., the ABC effect.
