The way of transmission of the Avesta and Avestan language has undergone 2 significant splittings in its histo-ry: i) In X century, when one part of the Zoroastrians emigrated from Iran to India; ii) In XVIII-XIX centuries, when European scientists took Avestan manuscripts from India to Europe and began an independent study there. There are now 3 different schools of reading/singing and interpreting Avesta: Iranian, Indian and European. Iranian and Indian schools are closer to each other, because the bearers of their knowledge are Zoroastrians. The European point of view on the Avesta contains some conscious and subconscious influence of European mentality and therefore makes some mistakes that are discussed in the paper.
