The modern competition policy requires the collaboration between economists and lawyers. This work investigates the problems about the way of their mutual understanding, and in addition scrutinizes the role of economics in competition policy for this moment. Empirical part of the analysis is devoted to the economic analysis in Russian antitrust policy. According to the analysis, the economic analysis application in litigations increases the durability of cases, and in addition has a significant effect on litigations’ outcomes, improving the position of the antitrust authority. The application of economic analysis in litigations in Russia is dedicated by formal reasons, but not by objective ones.
