The global economy and financial crisis is not over even now. This crisis once again has clearly demonstrated that financial markets can become a source of serious socio-economic tensions. The crisis has also shown that without adequate system of control and coordination of activities of the bodies regulating the world-wide economy and also without modernization of many national economies, the financial markets transform from a creative force into a destructive one. An adequate understanding of the world situation and globalization in general and of the ways of modernization of the modern society in particular becomes the task of utmost importance. Mere technological solutions are already insufficient to solve it. We need a philosophical analysis of the contemporary situation and of the earlier trends of the world development. The concepts of globalization and modernization acquire a primary importance here.
