A magnetic fluid (MF) is a colloidal solution of nanoscale ferromagnetic particles in a carrier fluid. Each particle is coated with a surfactant to inhibit clumping. Magnetic fluid becomes strongly magnetized in the presence of a magnetic field. A MF volume in an external magnetic field may change the shape of its free surface or move as a whole. This property can be used in artificial locomotion systems. The ability of the MF surface to be manipulated by means of magnetic fields can be also used in such devices as breakers, valves or sealing systems. The given project deals with theoretical and experimental research of possibility of creation of the directed movement of a MF volume and a liquid flow with nonzero flow rate on the basis of surface of MF deformation in non-uniform and homogeneous magnetic fields. Devices which use such movements and currents possess several advantages: they don't damage a moved substance (for example a biological liquid, as blood) as they don't contain hard parts; such devices are operated distantly by a magnetic field without a connection of wires or other energy sources.
