The shape of free surface of magnetic fluid with spherical ferromagnetic body in the uniform magnetic field has been studied experimentally. It was shown that a distortion of the applied uniform magnetic field by ferromagnetic body leads to deformation of free surface of magnetic fluid. Dependences of strain amplitude x of magnetic fluid free surface on magnetic field strength H for the different thickness of magnetic fluid layer h in vertical and horizontal magnetic field were obtained. The existence of critical magnitudes of magnetic field strength, which determine qualitative change of the shape of free surface of magnetic fluid above the ferromagnetic body, was found.
