Nowadays the interest in natural gas conversion is renewed, because the crude oil reserves continue to decrease. Treatment of natural gas, which contains approximately 98% of CH4, is a considerable scientific and technical challenge, requiring the development of advanced reactor designs and novel catalyst formulations. Methane conversion into valuable chemicals such as hydrogen (H2), carbon monoxide (CO), syngas, which is a mixture of hydrogen and carbon monoxide, and inferior olefins are reactions of significant commercial importance.
