The research of the modes of authorship in poetry as most conservative genre, especially the medieval one, has been long and fruitful. Numerous works of the IX.-X. centuries classified and examined the ways the conventional themes (maʿānī) are transformed (the sariqa-theory) and representated (the badīʿa-theory). The following paper will aim to investigate how medieval Arabic poets interpreted the traditional themes on the example of Bacchic poetry. The elements of Wine poetry appear either in single word-signals, or in one or several poetical lines. Basing on the sequence of their presentation in medieval Arabic treatises, it is possible to figure out the components of Bacchic passages in the poem and to arrange their main themes (maʿānī). The examination of their development from the Pre-Islamic period up to the X. century will contribute to the understanding of the way poets stressed their authorship by means of amplifying the conventional elements or transposing themes from other poetical genres.
