In Apabhramsha and early New Indo-Aryan any type of DO expressed by nouns was unmarked. Personal pronouns retained DO forms different from A and S. There existed pronoun forms that could mark practically all semantic roles. Punjabi nouns and pronouns exhibited Double-oblique system (Acc=Instr). Auxilliaries were agreeing in person with DO. Early NIA prose texts demonstrate DO marking first in non-ergative domain, later - in ergative one. Personal pronouns in DO function have become always marked. This latter syntactic change has contributed a lot to the ergativity decline process, i.e. to destroying the ‘passive syntax without active counterpart’. The core type of (inflexional) verbal agreement in person has ceased to exist in the described languages, though it has been preserved in modern Braj and Pahari dialects. Different DOs of polysemic verbs might have different marking
