Motivated by increasing demands for efficient and sustainable detergent formulations, we developed a complex methodology to optimize a washing performance of laundry detergent. The experimental set up mimics a miniaturized washing procedure, which involves competitive interfacial processes at solid-liquid and liquid-liquid interfaces. Colorimetric measurements are used to assess macroscopic efficiency of the extraction and solubilisation of model dyes by active components in the solution. Decisive input into the optimization of the ratio of the surface active components in the detergent is gained by the measurements of the dynamic surface activity which directly correlates with the cleaning performance.
