Аннотация:This bachelor thesis deals with the following research question: What significance does authenticity have for today's tourism society? The concept of au-thenticity is still discussed controversially and illuminated in literature from different per-spectives. Since the publication of the authenticity thesis of MacCannell in 1973, authenti-city has become an increasingly important study area in tourism research. The different concepts of authenticity in today's literature show that the importance of authenticity in tourism is still a controversial topic. This is where the following work begins.
The aim is to achieve an approximation of the significance of authenticity in today's tou-rism. Therefore various discourses of previous studies are being compared and in addition to tourist journals publications on psychology and monographs of important philosophers are used. Also historical aspects of tourism development summarized in the introduction must be considered, since they are essential for the understanding of the context of tou-rism "today".
