“Acta Baltico-Slavica” is an interdisciplinary journal, which prints papers from the fields of linguistics, anthropology, historical studies, and cultural studies. In the years 1964–1977, it was published by Białostockie Towarzystwo Naukowe, subsequently, from 1977 to 1992 by Ossolineum, Wrocław. Since 1992, the journal has been published by the Institute of Slavic Studies of the Polish Academy of Sciences, Warsaw.
“Acta Baltico-Slavica” publishes research on the current and past cultural, linguistic and social phenomena in the Balto-Slavic region. Papers that appear in the journal focus on transnational issues – our main interest rests in comparative studies and investigating universal phenomena, rather than isolated facts from a given nation's history. In the past, many researchers approached these issues from the point of view of their given nations – in “Acta Baltico-Slavica”, we attempt to promote studies which escape this bias. Our mission is to create an interdisciplinary and transcultural scientific terminology, which departs from the ethnocentric perspective.
Our journal has received contributions from linguists, historians, anthropologists and cultural experts from all over the world. We are open to novel subjects and topics, non-standard research approaches, as well as discussions and disputes.
