Аннотация:In recent decades there was observed an influx of women to leading posts in many countries. The leap forward took place in the 1980s. Thus, in the USA the number of women-managers doubled by 1986 as compared to 1980 and made 35% of all managers. And this number goes on growing. By 1999 the number of women-managers in Russia reached 36% of all managers, women-specialists of the highest level - 58% of the total, women-employers - 31%. This expansion of women in management has taken by surprise both men-managers holding traditionally the key positions and specialists in the theory of management. It brought about a currently widespread idea about the rise of a principally new "female" type of management, which radically differs from the common "male" style of management. The author claims, that women neither copy the "tough" male system of management nor create a clearly cut "female" style. To examine better the gender specifics of management, it is necessary to undertake a symmetrical study of men- managers. The characteristic features of the female style in management are adequate to the current management trends in the post-industrial society, which require communicability, flexibility, adaptivity and intuition of managers. The author comes to a conclusion, that female management has good future prospects.
