Аннотация:In young leaves, a succession of developmental modes, the creed, leading to stomata formation obeys the Guyot's rule: the later the stomatal complexes were initiated, the greater number of unequal divisions they required to form. This was ascribed to enlargement of the epidermal cells with leaf growth. But the development of the latest stomatal complexes requires a reduced number of cell divisions due to a temporal merge of the stomatal creed with the pathway of equal divisions of ordinary epidermal cells. This superimposing of morphogenetic programs was attributed to gradual decrease in relative size of the stomatal initials with leaf growth. Relative size of the initial proved to be more important determiner of stomatal creed than the absolute size of meristemoids.
