Аннотация:The preliminary results of estimating the density of global radioactive contamination of Southwestern Siberian steppe landscapes with 137Cs, which were based on studies of its reserves using the model objects of closed lake catchments, are presented. The models that are currently available for estimating the density of global radioactive contamination are the most reliable for marine regions and are least fit for intracontinental areas with a semiarid and arid climate. This work presents the preliminary results of estimating the density of global radioactive contamination of the Southwestern Siberian steppes with 137Cs, which were based on studies of its reserves using the model objects of closed lake catchments. The radioactivity accumulated by them reflects its integral entry for the period from the middle of the 20th century, since the movement of radionuclides beyond such catchments as a result of migration is hardly possible. The average density of 137Cs contamination in the studied closed catchments is 0.80 ± 0.24 kBq/m2, which is 2–3 times lower than the levels calculated from the published materials.
