Аннотация:The kinetics of oxidation of phenol compounds modeling structural units of the lignin macromolecule (phenol, pyrocatechol, guaiacol, 2,6-dimethoxyphenol, vanillin, vanillic acid, and ferulic acid) by ozone was studied. Kinetic schemes were suggested, and reaction rate constants determined at various pH. Medium pH was shown to exceedingly strongly influence the reactivity of the specified compounds: the rate of the oxidation of the ionized forms by ozone was several orders of magnitude higher than with nonionized phenols. The influence of the nature of substituents in the aromatic ring on the reactivities of monomeric lignin models was considered.
