Abstract
The article discusses the concepts of "fake news" and "post-truth" in theoretical and practical terms; it analyzes the origins of the negative image of Russia in the printed periodicals in Germany in two aspects (psychological and historical) and looks into modern media formats created to combat "fake news". The conclusion made by the authors is curious: the author of the oldest concept of fake news was the founder of the Reformation Martin Luther.
On the basis of a rich factual material the authors showed historical origins of negative shades in the coverage of events in the Soviet Union and Russia in the German mass media. In parallel, they also revealed a similar unfortunate trend: the coverage of events in Germany in Soviet and then Russian media also often suffered from a lack of completeness.
Keywords: fake news, post truth, printed media in Germany, new media formats, dekoder.org ("decoder"), the blogosphere, "gnosis" (dt. Gnosen).
