Аннотация:The algorithm, aimed on determination of ice concentration in Polar Regions is considered. This algorithm utilizes satellite microwave radiometry. Methodology of the algorithm is described in details. This methodology essentially differs from existing ones. The algorithm is developed on the basis of physical model of the emissivity of the system “sea surface – sea ice – snow cover – atmosphere”. The used approach allowed excluding atmospheric influence on the reconstructed
concentration of sea ice. New algorithm proved itself as an efficient tool for determination of ice concentration in Polar Regions. The algorithm allows obtaining ice concentration charts and to estimate the size of puddles and melt ponds, which form at the ice surface in summer. The algorithm is easy to put into practice by end-users and it does not need tuning coefficients and fitting parameters.
