Аннотация:SummaryAt least 7 individuals of 5 bird species with anomalous plumage colours were observed in Shchelkan Settlement (44°53ʹN, 43°27ʹE), Stavropol Krai, Russia, in 2018–2020. These were the Syrian (Dendrocopos syriacus) and Middle Spotted (D. medius) woodpeckers, Great Tit (Parus major), Tree Sparrow (Passer montanus)and Collared Dove (Streptopelia decaocto). All these anomalies can be characterized as partial or completeflavism caused by violations in the synthesis of melanin pigments; they are caused either by reduction or replacement of eumelanin, or by an increased concentration of pheomelanin. Most likely these colour aberrationsare of local origin since all the birds belong to mostly local sedentary species that inhabit the settlement and itsvicinity during the whole their life. Both nature of these aberrations (heredity and individual violations) as wellas their connection with successive plumages deserve further study. It is also unclear currently how widespreadthis phenomenon is in the region outside the village.
