Аннотация:The species composition of the macrobenthos in the contact zone of Curonian Bay (the Baltic Sea) from a depth of 0 to 0.5 m was studied. In the littoral of Curonian lagoon, 146 species, species groups, and forms of benthic invertebrates were found. Four types, 6 classes and 32 families and 52 species that never have been found ill the bay were identified. The species found are characterized by a low occurrence (1-10%) and specialization. except for Pontogammarus crassus (70%), which predominates in the littoral. All the new species are usual representatives of the offshore areas of different water bodies in the temperate zone. Only 3 species (Chaetogammarus warpachowskyi, Pontogammarus crassus, and Paramysis lacustris) have come from Ponto-Caspian region. The benthos of the Russian part of the bay consists of Palearctic, cosmopolitan, and Holarctic Species. According to the species diversity and number of the areas represented, the Holarctic complex (115 species or 81.6%) predominates; by the frequency of occurrence - representatives of Ponto-Caspian region (5, 70%) and cosmopolitans (1.63%). Some ecological features of distribution of the new species in the bay are considered.
