Аннотация:The active and passive remote sensing methods, which are used in present-day study of meso-scale quasi-regular turbulent inhomogeneities (coherent structures) in the lower and middle atmosphere, are considered. Using for these purposes different devices such as sodar, radar, lidar, scidar, radiometer, and also infra-sound inclined sounding techniques, occultation techniques, acoustic- and radiotomography, and cloud observations is discussed. The physical principles, underlying some methods developed recently are described. The advantages and restrictions of different methods, and also altitude ranges of their applicability are considered. The examples of measured parameters of vortical, layered and wavy structures and their visualization by various methods are given.
