Аннотация:One mitochondrial and two nuclear genes were analyzed for few populations within the ranges of the two races of common serotine, Eptesicus serotinus serotinus and E. s. turcomanus, to solve the taxonomic status of the latter form. No significant difference was found between these forms by sequencing of cyt-b mt-gene. For both analyzed nuclear genes haplotypes were found shared between eastern and western populations of the serotine. However, there is certain geographic variability in frequencies of these haplotypes in each population, and few haplotypes were found within only E. s. serotinus or E. s. turcomanus. Two different scenarios are suggested to explain that situation; independently to them, E. s. turcomanus should be treated as a subspecies of E. serotinus and not a full species.
