The effect of heat treatment (quenching from 300-600°C) on the coercive force and residual induction of permanent magnets of the Nd - Tb (Dy) - Fe - B -type was studied. The cooling rate in water and oil was chosen to be 300°C. The extremal variation of the coercive force was found, with a maximum near 25-30%. The coercive force increases from 13.2 to 16.8 kA/cm for the specimens of (Nd0.9Dy0.1)16Fe76B8 magnets and from 16.8 to 20.0 kA/cm for the (Nd0.9Tb0.1)Fe76B8 specimens. The residual induction remains nearly unchanged. © 1996 by Allerton Press, Inc.
