Аннотация:This paper deals with the concept of scaffolding as a method
which enhances efficiency of autonomous learning. This kind of learning is
essential for university studies, professional education and degree courses,
as it implements the principle of continuous learning and makes it possible
to be applied in the future without teachers’ assistance. Since students
acquire substantial amounts of subject-specific information mainly from
textual sources, reading is one of the four language skills actively involved
in forming competences of future professional workers. In this regard, it
seems necessary to select types of practices and tasks aimed at developing
skills for obtaining information from authentic professional literature.
Keywords: learner autonomy, ZPD, CLIL, authentic materials.
