The Agrakhan Bay of the Caspian Sea is a unique hydrographic and environmentally valuable object in the Terek River Delta. At the beginning of the 20th century, it was a typical sea lagoon, but by now it has lost the features of the marine area and a continuous water body, divided into two parts with its hydrographic network, water regime, landscapes, biota and anthropogenic press. Rehabilitation of water objects and wetlands of the former sea bay requires urgent and scientifically- proven measures, good knowledge of the factors and features of its rapid degradation, modern hydrological-morphological and hydroecological state. Thanks to the complex expedition studies of 2018-2020, estimation and modeling, geographical analysis, taking into account the opinions of interested parties, it was possible to justify measures for the partial restoration of the hydrological and ecological potential of the water reservoirs of the former Agrakhan Bay
