Аннотация:The authors describe an approach to optimize molecular sequence data for maximum performance of phylogenetic reconstruction. It allows one to refine phylogenetic signal contained in primary sequence data at any level of resolution in interest by targeted removal of concomitant informational noise from the alignment. Formal criteria are implemented to facilitate automatic prediction of the amount of noisy columns to be removed in order to enhance resolution without actually reconstructing intermediate phylogenies, which can be a considerable advantage in cases of computationally intensive runs. The algorithm is implemented in a computer program, which was used to analyze bulk molecular data from the COGs database (NCBI).
