- Аннотация: The phylum Nematoda (round worms) comprises the most biologically diverse and economically important group of animals arguably superceded in these characteristics by insects only. A considerable portion of this diversity, especially in terms of economic impact, is represented by secernentian worms. In recent years, molecular phylogenetics has drastically reshaped our perception of macroevolutionary relationships among Nematoda. Yet, detailed scenarios of the phylogenesis of major nematode lineages remained unreported. Here the authors communicate the milestone transitions in the phylogenesis of Chromadoria, one of the three major clades within the phylum, as reliably inferred with intensive analyses from SSU rDNA sequence data. According to the results, the group of Secernentea comprises a blooming top of the nematode crown with its roots finally ascertained with confidence among its soil dwelling kin.
